Autoimmune disease is like an iceberg. The diagnosis your doctor gives you is only the tip you can see above the water. Blood tests come back positive for rheumatoid factor. A biopsy shows celiac damage. Now the regular medical system steps in. But by this time, serious damage has already happened and cannot be fixed. The chance to stop it early is gone.
The 8 Early Markers That Predict Autoimmunity
The gap between what doctors can test for and what they usually test for is where autoimmune disease grows without anyone noticing. These eight markers are not part of the blood tests most people get each year. But they give you an early warning system. They can catch autoimmune disease at stages two through four, years before you get sick enough to notice.
Marker 1: ANA with reflex panel. Your body makes antinuclear antibodies when your immune system starts to go wrong. This can happen years before you get sick. Marker 3: Intestinal permeability assessment. Your gut wall has tight junctions, which are like the seals between bricks in a wall. A protein in your body controls whether those seals stay tight or loosen up. When that protein is high, it means your gut wall is becoming more porous. Research shows that a leaky gut barrier often comes before autoimmune disease starts. Measuring this tells you whether your intestinal wall is holding its line or starting to let things through that should stay out.
Marker 4: Comprehensive inflammatory panel. This marker shows how much inflammation is happening all over your body. Marker 6: Vitamin D level with optimal targets. Vitamin D at fifty to eighty helps your immune system work much better than vitamin D at thirty. Doctors usually say thirty is good enough, but it is not.
